Donovan Hanson

My musical journey started practically when I gained consciousness. My dad was a radio DJ here in Houston until I was 16, so music has always been a HUGE part and constant in my life. I grew up on the floors of those studios and fell in love with the “back-end” side of music first. I got my first guitar when I was 7 and from there the “Itch” to be one of the bands ON the radio really started. I spent the next 5 years trying to become the next Stevie Ray until I found the drums. My middle and highschool years were spent in garage bands with friends and behind the drumset most days of the week. Right after graduation in 2017, my band Lucid Illusions was formed and that’s where the “real” journey started
Since 2017 I’ve toured through most of the continental united states, recorded 2 studio length albums, opened up for bands like Warrant, Seether, The Sick Puppies, Puddle of Mudd, Bush, ect... and achieved The Houston Chronicles “Best Local band in Houston” award three years in a row. This is all I have ever wanted to do with my life, and being able to express that and teach here at School of Rock has been just as much of a gift to me as it is to the students here.
